What are the Italian Conversation Groups?
The Italian Conversation Groups (ICG) are Italian language meetings organized periodically by our Committee of Linguistics. Through the ICG, participants are given the possibility to practice the language and expand their knowledge about the Italian culture.
Meetings focus on aspects of the Italian culture that might be of general international interest such as art, painting, history, tourism, and gastronomy (to name a few). They are led by a moderator, who will coordinate the discussion and stimulate it with tips, teaching material (photographs, articles, etc.). No preparation is required. Sometimes, the moderator might provide the material in advance, which participants are suggested to read before the meeting to be better part of the conversation.
During the meetings participants are encouraged to share personal experiences, stories, etc. with their conversation group.
The Groups are structured according to the level of spoken Italian: beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced.
Maximum participants: 8 people per group
When and where?
The meetings are held on selected Saturdays in Bellevue at Tuttabella Crossroads and in Seattle at Il Punto! Italian Cultural center on Greenwood Ave. Sessions last approximately one and a half hour.
Who can participate?
Participation is open to anyone (member and non member) who wants to practice Italian.
Members can participate for free. For non-members there is a fee of $5 per session. Members who participate in these groups are free to give a donation if they would like to further help the Cultural Center activities.
