NOI BIMBI – Sunday Italian Program for Children

Il Punto! Italian Cultural Center

Is pleased to offer

NOI – Not An Ordinary Italian Class – Sunday Italian Program for Children

AGE 3-6: NOI PLAYDATE: PICCOLI

(ALL LEVELS WELCOME)

We believe that how children learn is as important as what they learn. With that idea in mind, this drop-off playgroup encourages each child to speak Italian through varied educational materials, activities and social interactions. The Piccoli Italian playdate is designed for children who have no (or little) exposure to Italian language. They will learn Italian through games, activities, songs and hands-on creativity (such as art projects). Children will primarily learn (or expand their understanding of) Italian music, geography, customs and food through creative play.

AGE 6-10: NOI – ITALIAN CLASSES (BEGINNERS)

This class is for older children to begin exploring different areas of Italian culture and language. Children will become familiar with Italian letters and phonemes. They will build a basic vocabulary through guided listening and speaking activities. This class has a strong focus on building confidence in speaking, listening and understanding of simple Italian sentences. The first 40 minutes of each lecture will be indeed dedicated to listening and speaking activities, basic grammar tools and vocabulary building. The last 20 minutes will be dedicated to fun learning experiences, often games that the beginner learners can play all together.

AGE 7-10: NOI – ITALIAN CLASSES (LOW INTERMEDIATE)

This course is designed for older children who have already had a certain previous exposure to Italian. Classes include conversations and activities such as games and role-playing. As students progress and gain more confidence, they will listen to short stories and contemporary songs, developing a familiarity and comfort level with speaking and understanding the living language.  The first part of each lecture will be dedicated to listening and speaking activities, mainly based on vocabulary building. The second part will be dedicated to fun learning experiences, often games. As this class is mainly verbal, being able to read and write is NOT MANDATORY.

AGE 8-12: NOI – ITALIAN CLASSES (HIGH INTERMEDIATE)

This course is designed for older children who are already able to express themselves in Italian. Classes include grammar instruction, as well as conversation and activities such as games and role-playing. The first part of each lecture will be dedicated to listening and speaking activities, grammar tools and vocabulary building. We’ll be able to introduce reading and writing, too. The second part will be dedicated to fun learning experiences, often games or simulations. Being able to read and write (at least in English) is MANDARTORY.
