NOI – Not An Ordinary Italian Class

Italian Program for Children

FALL 2019

Semini                Germogli              Alberelli

The most effective way to learn a second language is to put the young children in situations where the second language surrounds them. And the earlier a child learns a second language, they say, the more likely he or she will quickly attain language proficiency.
The Italian Cultural Center of Seattle, “Il Punto”, offers your child the possibility to be surrounded with the Italian language through conversations and social activities. Expose your children to multilingual settings and give them plenty of opportunities to play and speak Italian with other children!

Semini – Sprouting seeds

Class Description
A hands-on program designed for children with little to no exposure to Italian. The program will give our young students a good grasp on vocabulary through games and songs. Through group activities and the teaching language being solely Italian, the children will start to process the language morphology, preparing to express themselves in Italian.
  • Ideal age group: 2 to 4 years old (we can accommodate wider age group for special circumstances)
  • Level: Absolute beginner
  • Length: 60 minutes (9am-10am)
 Resources and Materials
All material will be provided by the instructor.

Germogli – Blooming buds

Class Description
Developed for our returning students or children that already took their first steps in Italian and have a basic grasp of vocabulary and are ready to put together their first sentences in Italian! The program is designed to mature a basic understanding of Italian morphology through games, stories and group activities. Children won’t just listen and repeat, but start communicating basic needs and ideas in the language.
  • Ideal age group: 6 to 10 years old (we can accommodate wider age group for special circumstances).
  • Level: Beginner or children with basic understanding of Italian, but not able to express themselves in the language yet.
  • Length: 60 minutes (10:15am-11:15am)
Resources and Materials
All the material will be provided by the instructor.

Alberelli  – Thriving trees

Class Description
This is our most advanced level of Italian for children. Our “young trees” are students that are already able to speak and tell us more about their life and interests in Italian. Our goal for this group is to be able to produce more complex ideas in Italian and understand written material and, who knows, maybe even producing some short sentences on their own! Our approach will still be based on games and activities, but those will be integrated with specifically designed exercises that are still fun and framed in a game-format, but allow our students to absorb some essential grammar items and be more confident in their reading and writing in the language.
  • Ideal age group: 7 to 12 years old (we can accommodate wider age group for special circumstances).
  • Level: Low Intermediate or children that can already speak in Italian and that are able to understand it. Our students at this level should be able to read and write in English (no worries, we don’t need spelling champions! Just basic reading and writing)
  • Length: 90 minutes (11:30am-1pm)
Resources and Materials
All the material will be provided by the instructor.
