Biblioteca Italiana water damages update 31 August
The Biblioteca Italiana Seattle (BIS), housed at Casa Italiana suffered significant water damage on 29 June 2022. Il Punto’s insurance company was notified and a contractor that specializes in flood damage clean-up and remediation was hired. Since then, many of our books and shelves had to be discarded due to extensive mold and/or water damage. Most of the remaining books have been dried and packed into boxes. A few hundred remaining books are still being dried. We hope this is accomplished by mid-September. Meanwhile, the library room at Casa Italiana will require extensive demolition and drying before replacing the walls, ceiling and floor.
Conversation Groups Update
Conversation Groups will resume in September. The next event will be posted on our website in early September.
The Board of Directors put together a Strategic Planning Committee in June and held our first planning meeting in July. As part of this process a Questionnaire will be sent to all Il Punto members. The questions seek our members’ opinions on the direction(s) they would like the organization to go. We hope to send out the Questionnaire in September.
Board of Directions volunteers needed
We need volunteers for the Board of Directors who are able to start in January 2023. The positions open include the President. Those members interested should contact email@example.com.
